Preparing for the ExCPT?
RxAce has a separate study path for NHA's pharmacy technician exam. It brings together lessons, worked examples and original practice questions, including billing and compounding topics that are outside the 2026 PTCE outline.
What the path covers
The current NHA plan took effect July 9, 2025. These percentages apply to its 100 scored questions.
| Topic | Share | Examples in RxAce |
|---|---|---|
| Technician responsibilities | 15% | Role boundaries, communication, references, inventory and daily pharmacy work. |
| Law | 15% | Federal requirements, controlled substances, privacy and checking state-specific rules. |
| Medication knowledge | 13% | Names, classes, uses, product differences, interactions and referral concerns. |
| Dispensing | 43% | Intake, billing, preparation, labels, calculations, compounding and repackaging. |
| Safety and quality | 14% | Error prevention, infection prevention, reporting, quality improvement and emergencies. |
Within dispensing, the scored-item allocations are 13 for intake, 13 for preparation, 7 for calculations and 10 for compounding, unit dose and repackaging. The detailed map links individual knowledge and task statements to actual lessons and assessment items, with any remaining limitations shown.
Practice with explanations
Work through focused topic sets, then use the timed ExCPT-style practice when its required question pools are available: 120 original multiple-choice questions in 130 minutes. RxAce selects 100 questions using the blueprint and adds 20 more practice questions. All 120 count toward your practice score.
The real exam includes 20 pretest items. RxAce does not know their content or placement. Its questions are original study material, not NHA exam questions. A raw practice percentage is not NHA's scaled score, and it does not predict a pass.
Drug names and product differences
Study common generic and brand names, classes, uses, storage and safety. Product lessons also explain why the same ingredient family can have different formulations, routes and uses. Ingredient overlap with a drug list does not mean every listed brand or product is fully covered; the coverage record makes that distinction.
RxAce is not affiliated with, approved by or endorsed by NHA. Using the app does not by itself satisfy NHA's training or work requirements. Check your eligibility directly with NHA or your qualifying training provider. State registration and workplace training requirements are separate.
Content is AI-authored and source-checked where labeled. Qualified pharmacy review remains pending. The separate technician education program is under development and is not currently PTCB-recognized.
